Alexander clark printing
began in 1972 in a small shop in downtown Boise, Idaho, that is now the snack bar of the Egyptian Theater. Robert Alexander and Jim Clark brought their printing experience from California and decided that there was a need for quality printing in Idaho.
By 1984, the company had added several pieces of equipment, and had grown to 10 employees. It was at this time that the business moved from its downtown location to the current location at 10801 Emerald Street in the west end of Boise. This new facility had 10,000 square feet which gave the company room to grow. During this time, the company also hired a Sales Representative in the Magic Valley, to provide customers in that area with the same quality printing that was being sold in the Treasure Valley.
Even with this growth, the company maintained their commitment to taking care of the customer and making sure that all jobs produced had the highest quality, produced in the time frame needed by the customers.
In 1998, Alexander Clark Printing installed the first commercial web press in the Treasure Valley. The company added onto the buildings, bringing the total amount of production facility to 35,000 square feet. With the addition of the Sanden press, and the step into the Commercial/Full Color arena, the company also added folding equipment, additional cutters, and a saddle stitcher to put together full color catalogs.
In 2003, Robert and Jim decided to sell the business. Over the years, they had received many offers from outside parties that were interested in buying their very profitable business. However, Robert and Jim wanted their company to continue as it had over the past 30+ years. As a result, they decided to reward all the employees who had helped make the company the success that it is. In 2004 they sold the company to the employees, as an ESOP, which is a way that all the employees can earn stock in the company, as they do their jobs well, and as the company continues to be profitable.
It has been 20 years since the sale of Alexander Clark Printing and we continue to serve the Treasure Valley, Magic Valley and beyond. Because of the foundation laid by Robert and Jim and the commitment to their customers Alexander Clark Printing remains strong financially and respected as a company with deep values rooted in integrity, service and quality products.
